My installation «Eggplosion» comes out of the history of Spider&Mouse Gallery and the very specific situation of the arts in Russia today।
Spider&Mouse gallery grew out of the former studio space of Marina Perchikhina. Today it is a favorite meeting place and exchange for non conformist thinking people of the art scene.
During Soviet time the little room within the gallery was a small hidden place underneath the स्तिर. केस।Marina and Igor found this place, when they reconstructed Igor´s studio to open the Gallery Spider&Mouse in 1994. Marina used it in a very special way: «Into this room I put down the permanent collection of my main project - Unknown Artist Museum - Andrey Blagov’s heritage - by this way it became my hero’s studio-museum.»
This Summer she will open up this little hidden place within the gallery the first time for exhibitions। I feel very honored to be invited at Spider&Mouse Gallery’s as the first artists to install «Eggplosion» there. I will put the deconstructed parts of a waxfabric bag like an explosion into the space. All six levels of the bag will be fixed at the six surfaces of the space. On the floor sitting on the bottom part of the bag I put down a raw egg.


The Explosion as a very eruptive and distracting element blows the elements of the bag to all sides। The same time the exploding bag seems to convert into a slow motion movement while drifting away from the center. When the parts hid the walls the bag opens up for a new dimension: The forces opened up for a very fragile egg, which rests at the bottom of the bag. Undestructed it seems to take over all forces of the explosion and transforms it into a positive energy: «Eggplosion».
